Win rate, profit factor, payoff ratio

| All days up to this one | 66.7% (26 won / 13 lost) | 1.33 | 0.67 |
Win rate counts lots: every lot in a winning row of the statement counts as a win. Profit factor = total gains ÷ total losses. Payoff ratio = average gain per winning lot ÷ average loss per losing lot.

TAIEX down 600+ points after the open
The whole market was weak from the open. Days like this offer more short setups, but after a deep drop a bounce can come at any time.

OTC index sells off with almost no bounce
Comparing the two first hours side by side, this day had almost no meaningful bounce. A straight-down market actually makes shorting stressful, because you never know when it will suddenly snap back.

Short #1: oversold bounce
A plain bounce short: after a sharp drop the stock bounced back, and the short went in on the bounce while it was still below VWAP. The main worry before entering was a sudden V-turn in the broader market.

OTC index moves sideways for 30 minutes
Sideways action after a selloff is the hardest moment to read in day trading. It can break lower or rally. On this day every extra sideways bar raised the odds of a rally, so every short was kept short-term.

Moving the take-profit up one tick
A take-profit order parked on a level with a large buy wall often never gets filled, because price bounces before reaching it. Moving it up one tick puts it just above the wall, so price reaches my order first. With the OTC index consolidating and a V-turn possible at any time, it was no moment to be greedy.

Sudden spike after the buy-back
The spike right after the buy-back confirmed the decision not to be greedy: with the take-profit at the original level, it might never have filled before the stock was pulled up.

Short #2: resistance at the prior high
The prior bounce high acts as resistance. When price returned there, the buy orders kept thinning, and after a sell order hit, I judged it couldn't break through and shorted again.

Squeezed in two waves
Right after entering, big buy orders pushed price up: a small first wave, then a stronger second wave that ran up to just under VWAP. I stayed put and followed my rules: there was resistance above VWAP, so going higher would not be easy.

Rejected at VWAP: repeated M tops
Buyers kept trying to push higher, but every touch of VWAP was rejected — someone was defending that level. Several failed tops in a row made the resistance clear.

OTC index rallies, the stock can't follow
The day's biggest fear came true: the OTC index finished consolidating and rallied. But the stock had fallen too far and still couldn't move up with it. When a stock lags the index like this, the short still has room.

OTC index spikes and fades
The index couldn't hold its rally; the spike faded and closed at the low, showing the upward push didn't last. With the market weakening, it was time to look for a third short.

Full day: three shorts, three buy-backs
All three were quick trades: enter, then take profit by my rules. The stock dropped further after the last exit, but after a deep drop a sudden V-turn is always possible, so I followed my rules and didn't chase.
