Take Profit

Traditional Chinese: 停利1 real trading day

Taking profit means closing a winning position to lock in the gain. For a short, that means buying back below the price you sold at. Traders often place a take-profit order at a planned price; where that order sits relative to other orders can decide whether it gets filled.

A take-profit order parked on a level with a large buy wall often never gets filled, because price bounces before reaching it. Moving it up one tick puts it just above the wall, so price reaches my order first. With the OTC index consolidating and a V-turn possible at any time, it was no moment to be greedy.

All three were quick trades: enter, then take profit by my rules. The stock dropped further after the last exit, but after a deep drop a sudden V-turn is always possible, so I followed my rules and didn't chase.
